Aspen/Pitkin County Efficient Building Program Includes the APCEP Efficient Building Checklist, Guidelines, Resource Guide & Deconstruction Plan.

Department of Energy's Building America Program Great information, particularly under "Additional Resources."

Next Gen Homes are energy efficient homes. These are affordable too. This website shows the ones CORE consulted on building in the Roaring Fork Valley, with plans available for free. One of them won the 2005 award for affordable housing in the Western Regional division of the American Institute of Architects.

Building Science Consortium BSC is a Building America team leader. Their site is a rich source of information on energy-efficient design and construction, particularly under their "Houses That Work" and "Case Studies " sections.

Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation Technical resources for cold climate construction. It is geared towards both builders and home buyers/owners.

Consortium for Advanced Residential Buildings (CARB) Building America team leader, Steven Winter Associates. Their "Projects" and "CARB-News" sections are especially strong.

Energy & Environmental Building Association This is THE trade organization for energy-efficient builders. Especially useful are the "Building Info Central" and "Communications" elements.

Environmental Building News Considered "must reading" for those involved in energy efficiency and green building design and construction. 

Green Building Alliance focuses on the development of green buildings in Pittsburgh, PA.  Pittsburgh's many LEED accredited buildings in all areas of business and non profit work provide inspiration.

Incentive Insulation Database An on-line searchable database for access to local information on incentive programs for making energy-efficient improvements. This web site was created and is maintained by North American Insulation Manufacturers Association (NAIMA).

Building Energy Codes Your resource for tools to facilitate energy code compliance, development, adoption, implementation, and enforcement.

ZIP-Code Program for Insulation A computer program is available to help you calculate the amount of insulation appropriate for your house. The program is called the ZIP-Code because it includes weather and cost information for local regions defined by the first three digits of each postal service zip code.

Building With Awareness is a website which emphasizes aesthetic design in conjunction with sustainable design. Check out their photo tour!

Comments: Alan Steel, AKA Alan Steels, has a really great selection of base metals and stuff (salvage) made from base metals. This includes sheet, tubing, extrusions, rod, angle, and pallet material in aluminum, brass, steel, stainless steel and some plastics. You can also find giant gears, motors, fans, and all sorts of other random stuff. They charge to cut. This is a really great place to wander around just to get your creative juices flowing. They give deals to the fairer sex and on stuff they don't understand. Otherwise it's pretty pricey.
